The Connaught, New Delhi - IHCL SeleQtions

On my first visit to India, The Connaught made me feel at home. I travel often for work around the APAC region, and the service was wonderful from the greeting at the entrance through my daily contact with the service and security staff. Even the welcome treats were a lovely touch. My room was spotless every day. The gentleman who serviced it would check in when we crossed paths in the hall to see if I was okay or needed laundry or anything extra. Reception kindly accepted my Blinkit deliveries every other day. At the restaurant, the staff kept my coffee topped up and brought food promptly. I ordered room service often, and everything was delicious and delivered quickly by friendly staff. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Delhi.

For a business trip, The Connaught was comfortable and memorable, and the people are what really made it special. Mr. Robin at the Front Desk was genuinely friendly and made check-in smooth. He helped with our room allocation and our specific needs. Mr. Anil, the Concierge Manager, was also consistently proactive, helping with room preferences and throughout the stay. Ms. Icy in the restaurant was warm, responsive and always smiling, making each meal pleasant. The hotel has a cozy vintage feel that gives it a different character from larger properties. The small pool and outdoor area were peaceful, intimate and beautifully maintained, and we enjoyed the stadium view from our room. The only small drawback was the room size, which felt a little tight. The staff's attention and hospitality more than made up for it.

I stayed here twice, once for one night and later for two. I really appreciated the front desk and security team: robin, annil, sunny, and the two front securities, the mustached one and the nice lady. Sorry, I can't remember their names. Robin and annil gave me great recommendations and lots of help. They're exceptionally good people, and I really praise the hotel's hospitality. The breakfast was okay, but underwhelming. It wasn't extensive or impressive, and I expected more from such a high-end hotel, especially given how good Indian cuisine is. The flavors didn't match food of the same kind that I've tried around Delhi and India. It could just be my preference, but that's how it felt to me. The room felt extremely micro, with barely enough space beyond the king size bed, and the layout wasn't as functional as other micro rooms I've stayed in. I also disliked the shower: there's no door, so the whole bathroom floor gets wet. I understand it's a wet floor, but it isn't very practical. I would've liked more interaction with the staff. During my first stay I made a point of talking with robin and annil, but they weren't around much during my second one. It was harder to chat naturally, beyond a hi or bye. I enjoyed those conversations, and whether it was the layout or the timing, it felt harder to connect with staff the second time.

The room was comfortable, though I was a little disappointed by its size and there wasn't enough storage. Drawers for clothes and other things would help. We stayed for six nights at this fabulous hotel, with top-notch ambience and lovely dining, restaurant and food. Mr.Pawan in housekeeping was super helpful. Breakfast was lavish and better than the usual selection, though the parathas could've been more authentic. The spices covered up the vegetables' aromas.
