De Alturas Resort

We stayed in room 401 from 4th Jan to 7th Jan. The room felt damp and poorly maintained, and it seemed they'd only run a broom over the floor. The toilet seat was still dirty and used, and the washrooms were filthy. Cleaning was missed around the curtains, behind and beside the door, under the bed, and anywhere that wasn't easy to reach. Pool water looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for at least a week, and a rowdy crowd took it over while smoking and drinking. Staff were rude and inexperienced; some looked like they'd been drinking heavily during their shift. The food was bland, repetitive, and mainly South Indian, with breakfast refills up to its 10:30 end time poor and staff reluctant to replenish them. We had to call out several times. Prices were also frustrating: a small glass of milk for a little child cost 130 rupees, and one Manchow soup was nearly 600. Basic washroom items were missing, including a toothbrush kit, shaving kit, and conditioner. The extra bed was just an uncomfortable mattress on the floor, without a frame. A piece of wood blocked the door peephole, and the soap and shampoo were poor quality. Wi-Fi internet speed wasn't good either, and the place wasn't very child friendly. I wouldn't recommend coming here. I also suspect someone named aman Khan bought many of the five star reviews.

We spent two nights here with family, and the stay was a complete waste of money. The property doesn't live up to its claimed four-star rating or even basic hospitality standards. The bathroom was poorly maintained, the washroom doors didn't work, and the swimming pool was dirty. Basic items were missing, including a toothbrush kit, shaving kit, and ironing board, and the freezer was empty. Breakfast was poor quality and not worth the price. The kitchen staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome. They kept pointing out the prices of food and water as though this were a seven-star property. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The location is peaceful, a lovely setting for a relaxing break. Rooms at Resort De Alturas were beautiful, clean, and very comfortable, and the staff were polite and helpful. Service was top class. Highly recommended.

We won't stay at this hotel again. General cleanliness was poor: the towels and sheets had stains even though they were changed regularly, and while our room was cleaned daily, the floor was mopped with dirty water. The staff were pleasant enough, but most only seemed to understand English when it suited them. Reception staff were the only ones with a reasonable grasp of it. They refused to accept card payment, claiming nobody in Goa took international bank cards, which was an outright lie. Every bar and restaurant we'd visited, even the beach shacks, had taken cards. The hotel hosted conferences for groups of Indian workmen, some of whom drank too much. That was a nuisance for us, and it frightened the young Indian girls staying there so much that twice they asked to walk into the hotel with us because they felt vulnerable around drunk men in the entrance.
