Hotel Gurukripa Inn

The staff made the stay special with prompt service and lots of help. The rooms were clean, hygienic, and comfortable, and the main Omkareshwar Temple is about a 10 minute walk away. A great stay for pilgrims.

Hotel Gurukripa Inn is very close to the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, and some rooms look out directly toward the temple and Narmada River. The location was the biggest plus for my visit to Omkareshwar. Ashish was excellent, very down to earth, and I felt he was the best person there. The staff and owners were welcoming, polite, and helpful, making sure guests were comfortable. The rooms are pleasant and work well for a short visit; cleanliness is generally maintained, and families or pilgrims should find them relaxing. For darshan, the proximity, views, and friendly service made this a peaceful stay with a spiritual feel. I’d recommend it for pilgrims and short stays.

The rooms were filthy, dusty, and clearly not cleaned properly. Bedsheets and towels were stained, the washrooms were dirty, and even the mirrors were grimy. Staying there felt unsafe and unacceptable. Basic toiletries were missing too, apart from one cheap hand soap. There was no handwash, shampoo, dental kit, or slippers. The place felt like a poorly maintained house with a few rooms, not a hotel. The rooms were extremely basic, with just double beds, despite being advertised as fully equipped. Several listed facilities weren’t there: no fridge, proper luggage space, iron, kettle, coffee or tea pouches, or hair dryer. The housekeeping staff had no uniforms or professionalism, and showed no sense of hygiene. The listing also showed “fully booked” online while most rooms were vacant, which seemed like an attempt to create fake demand and mislead customers. There was no professionalism, hospitality, or basic standard you’d expect even from a budget hotel. This was a horrible, frustrating stay, and I strongly advise people to avoid it. It’s dirty, dishonest, and shouldn’t be listed on a booking platform.

The staff were polite and helpful, and there’s driver accommodation, though the bunk bed is right outside your room. The hotel is close to the temple, which you can see from the room, but the garbage view takes over if you go near the window. The water was the worst part. The hotel pulls untreated, polluted water from the Narmada river through a pipe. It was green and dirty, clearly not fit to use, so we had to buy bottled water even for brushing and bathing. When I asked the receptionist, he said, “People drink this, ma’am.” I paid ₹4,000 a night for a so-called “deluxe room with breakfast.” They served poha and kachori in the room, but we skipped breakfast both days because of the hygiene. The room had cockroaches and mosquitoes, and I spent most of my time killing them. When I asked for mosquito repellent, staff gave me room freshener instead, which we also needed because the rooms stank. The towels, bedsheets, and pillow covers were old and stained; the blanket cover had fungus. The hotel is next to a sewage unit, and opening the window brought in the stench. For that price, it felt like they were looting guests. They charge like a 3-star property but the conditions were worse than a railway waiting room. Indian Railways coaches are cleaner. Avoid this place, it fails basic hygiene and safety standards. The owner may be a school principal, but clearly doesn’t care about minimum cleanliness.
