Hotel Sri Balaji

Mr. Pradeep and his team looked after us very well, and Manoj was especially kind and helpful. They also offered useful tips on places to visit. The hotel is close to many popular spots, so sightseeing was easy, and hot water was available around the clock. We loved our hassle-free four days at Hotel Sri Balaji in Ooty. The rooms were nice and clean, and the service was great.

We stayed two nights with family and appreciated the spacious dining area, where the complimentary breakfast was good. On a cold December night they’d arranged bonfires, which was a nice touch, and all the staff, including reception, were very supportive. The property still has its old charm, with big rooms and plenty of parking. They should consider adding air conditioning to regulate temperatures in summer, and free room heaters for winter.

The location worked well for us. It’s about 1.8 km from Charring Cross, an easy walk, and there are auto rickshaws too. Tell the management and they can arrange one. JJ restaurant next door serves the included breakfast, plus lunch and dinner at your expense. The room service guys can bring food, and they were prompt, patient, and pleasant. All three did a great job, especially Manoj, who I interacted with more. I stayed four days and three nights. The bed and sheets were spotless, the bathroom and water were clean, and hot water was available 24 hours. They also host a bonfire. Some music and snacks would make it even better. I’ve forgotten the gentleman’s name, but his stories about Ooty’s history made yesterday’s bonfire memorable. Excellent place to stay, and pocket friendly.

The rooms are on the older side, but the hospitality is really good. The attendants are sweet and helpful, and breakfast is included. Recommended for a budget stay around Ooty.
