The problems started with the tent. We had confirmed one before heading out sightseeing, but when we came back it had been given to someone else. The replacement was dirty, with soiled sheets and a large hole in the toilet. We reported it, but nothing was properly sorted out. Getting fresh sheets took over an hour, too. The campfire we paid extra for was set up in a filthy, frightening area that looked like a dumping ground. It felt more like sitting in an open toilet than enjoying a fire. Staff were spitting around the property, which was disgusting. They spoke only Hindi while we speak Tamil and English, and made no effort to help us communicate. We booked Janarathan Homestay after a very promising first exchange, but the stay was the complete opposite. The place is badly maintained, the staff were unprofessional, and the hygiene was unacceptable. Worst stay we've had. Don't waste your money.

The tea estate setting gives the place a lovely feel. Staff are polite and genuinely helpful, and if you want pure North Indian food, it feels like eating at home.

The view was the one good part. The washroom was poorly maintained and had no hygiene, and the staff, especially the manager named rahul, left a bad impression. He seemed very money minded, with sweet-sounding words and counteroffers that felt like attempts to fool us. He also came across as very egotistical, though he said everything was for our benefit. I'd always had a good time at this campsite before, so this visit was the worst experience. I'm not going back, and I'd suggest others avoid it too.
