Sun Park Ooty

The hotel rooms suit small families, especially those driving themselves. But the access is extremely difficult: the approach street is only 8 feet wide, stays congested for 800 meters, and is surrounded by local residents. Every time, we had to ask residents to make way for our car. If you’re traveling with a driver, make sure their basic needs are taken care of. The worst customer service I’ve experienced. The Sun Park Hotel staff were rude and seemed focused on money. This made for the worst Ooty trip experience.

It’s close to town, so getting food and other things was easy, and the location is about 750 meters from the main road. We stayed in the old building constructed by the Britishers, though there are newer-style rooms on the other side. The weather was lovely for spending time with friends, and we all liked the rooms and location. We had a great time here.

Check the photos carefully before booking. A family member booked this place from abroad after looking at the pictures, and it turned out to be one of the worst experiences of my life. Staff were rude, and some inexpensive things left out near a CCTV camera went missing. I believe they were taken after staff saw them on the camera, which raised serious concerns for me about security. The rooms weren’t maintained, the floor was damaged and unsafe for kids, and the mirrors were so worn you couldn’t see yourself properly. The restrooms had no locks, so someone could look in. One room was secured with cables, and another had no lock at all. The access road is so crooked you can’t drive an SUV through it. They charge 500 for an extra bed despite the poor condition. Look closely at the photos before booking.

My stay at Hotel Sun Park Ooty was disappointing. The bathroom faucet was broken, the sheets weren’t clean, and despite asking several times over two days, I never got a pillow cover. The rooms were quite basic too. Better maintenance and service could have made this a much better experience.
