Sunderban Tiger Camp

We stayed at Waxpol Tiger Camp, Sundarbans from Jan 16-18, and it gave us the break we needed from our hectic lives. It felt like an oasis. The camp itself is beautiful, with so much to see that a walk around the property could be a tour in itself. One morning we skipped the 6am boat ride to explore the grounds instead, and I'm glad we did. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained, from the peaceful rooms to the way meals and other needs were handled. The staff were warm and attentive, and the stay felt well worth the money. It's impressive how much care they've put into the place in such challenging terrain. We loved the well-curated souvenir shop and bought far more than planned. We'd been telling friends about the camp while still there, and we know we'll return. It took us a long time to visit, but we're glad we finally did. Big thanks to the whole team for creating such a special place in a unique location. Highly recommend.

Swarup arranged everything for our Sunderbans trip, including the transport to and from Kolkata and the boat. We really liked the boat he organized. Sunderbans Tiger Camp made a clean, peaceful base, with lots of plants and a beautiful setting. The food was decent, though we would have liked to try more local dishes. The fresh jalebi was amazing. We had a wonderful trip and hope to come back soon.

We had a memorable Christmas holiday at Sundarban Tiger Camp. We went without a referral and felt a little unsure at first, but after speaking with Mr. Swarup, he answered all my questions and put my concerns to rest. There were long boat rides into the creeks with lunch onboard, bonfires each evening, folk dancing, a Baul performance, and a special Christmas dinner, along with a warm welcome. The staff, led by Mr. Swarup, paid close attention to details and brought a personal touch. Everyone did their part with a smile and plenty of humility. I'd suggest anyone planning a Sundarban trip speak with Mr. Swarup. Thank you, STC, for such a memorable experience.

The boat staff and guide knew a lot about the local flora and fauna, and they were great at spotting birds and animals. We saw plenty of wildlife and thoroughly enjoyed the trip, though we would have liked more time exploring the jungle on foot. We spent lots of time on the river. The resort is beautiful, with spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, and comfortable beds. A table or desk in the room would have been useful, but that was a small inconvenience. The staff were friendly, helpful, professional, and capable, and we felt very well cared for. They handled all our needs around our 4-year-old child well. The food was amazing, almost too good to resist overeating. I'd highly recommend the place. If you're traveling with children, call ahead about any changes or adjustments you need. They'll likely be happy to meet most requests. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends, though visits to the reserved forest are closed on Tuesdays.
