Fidalgo Hotel

I went to Hotel Fidalgo in Panaji, Goa for a meal, and the experience was satisfying overall. It’s a long-established, iconic hotel, and the choice of dining spots under one roof is a big plus. There’s Indian food, multi-cuisine fare, and a café-style option, with places like “Legacy of Bombay,” “Chilli n Spice,” and “Aunty Maria.” That makes it easy to come for a full meal or just snacks and coffee. The dining rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well kept, and could suit families, business meetings, or a casual outing. Their look is elegant and a little old-school rather than ultra-modern, which has its own charm. The menu covers Indian, continental, and some Goan specialties. Vegetarian dishes, especially traditional Indian food and thalis, are popular and good value. Biryani, snacks, and tea have also been praised by visitors. Food quality is consistently good, and the staff are courteous, attentive, and prompt. For me, Hotel Fidalgo is a dependable, comfortable place with lots of variety in a classic setting, rather than somewhere focused on trendy or experimental food.

Austin made the meal even better with polite, attentive service and everything arriving on time. At Southern Basil by Fidalgo, we ordered South-style Coconut Chicken, full of flavor and nicely cooked. It reminded me of a classic Goan Xacuti and went well with soft paratha and fluffy appam. The Chicken Biryani was fragrant and tasty, and its raita cooled the spices. A very satisfying dinner, and I’d visit again.

I’ve eaten here a few times, and all four restaurants in the same place make it really convenient. The food has been delicious every time, with an authentic feel and plenty of flavor. Each meal has left me satisfied, and it’s the sort of spot that keeps drawing you back.
