The Tiger Valley Resort

Mobile reception was almost nonexistent, which was the one real problem. From our room window we saw bison, deer and peacocks, and just outside the resort gate, about 200 meters away, we spotted BAJRANG, the biggest tiger in BANDHAVGARH. There were around 100-150 deer too. This is a private resort in India located in the core zone, a great place for jungle lovers. Hospitality was ultimate, food extremely delicious, and hygiene deserves five stars.

I’ve visited Tiger Resort in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve forest twice, and both trips were memorable. Mr. Ashok Sinha, the owner, knows a great deal about the forest and wildlife, so spending time with him is enriching. You may even see a tiger from the resort without going on safari. The staff are exceptionally polite, the food is excellent, and the rooms are actually more spacious than needed, they’d be perfect a little smaller. It’s a beautiful place to stay. Mobile reception is limited, so it’s better to go with family than alone.

The main drawback was the phone service. There’s only one spot where you might get a signal, and even there it comes and goes. The resort could also clear some of the overgrown bushes, since taking a walk after dinner felt scary. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay, with good food. The corner room has a terrace set up so you can see tigers from there.

We could clearly hear deer alarm calls and peacocks at night, and hot water and toiletries were provided. The cottages are spacious, each with two rooms and a bathroom. The resort is in the core area near Khitauli zone, and the food was good quality with timely service. Staff were polite and helpful. The big issue is the lack of mobile service, and even the wifi signal is very weak, so we couldn’t take emergency calls.
