Alps Residency

The food was what I enjoyed most, and we liked the menu choices too. I visited Pondicherry Alps Residency with friends and found the rooms spacious and the hotel hygienic, including very clean bathrooms. The decor was nice, and attentive staff greeted us warmly. The service and facilities matched what I’d heard from previous customer feedback, and it felt like good value. I had a nice time there, and it seems like a relaxing place for a three-day stay for a couple, a solo guest, or a family. I’d recommend it for dining.

The rooms were good and hygienic, but the staff made the experience frustrating. I needed an early check-in and found everyone at reception asleep. I tried for over an hour without anyone helping, then was charged 300 per hour, so I paid 900 extra for the room. The website said breakfast was complimentary when booking, and there was a sign outside the hotel saying the same. Still, they denied serving breakfast.

It’s in a residential neighborhood, so it was quiet and away from main-road traffic. The important tourist spots are all within a 3 km radius. My room was clean, and the AC and geyser worked well; I didn’t see any mosquitoes. If you’re staying with family, look for a good restaurant nearby. The rooftop bar may not suit traditional families.

We paid part of the total a week before check-in and received confirmation for the booking. Then on arrival day, they said there were no rooms and told us to call customer care about a refund. They were apparently selling one room to others for 5k. Please don’t book here, or you could be left in a terrible situation.
