The place was so congested and unlike the online pictures. At ₹2000+ a night, our room felt cramped and suffocating, and the bathroom was ridiculously small and uncomfortable. Our third-floor room was up multiple flights with no elevator, something not clearly mentioned when booking through Booking.com. Carrying our luggage up without help was exhausting and unacceptable. Staff were indifferent and unhelpful, with no effort to address concerns or make the stay pleasant. From start to finish, our experience at Arul Residency, Pondicherry was awful. It felt misrepresented, poorly managed, and grossly overpriced. I regret choosing it and would strongly advise people to avoid Arul Residency. Booking.com promoting and recommending it is genuinely disappointing. A holiday should be an escape, but this stay made us feel like we could have dug a hole and stayed in it. I would stay anywhere else, but not here.

The location was a big plus, right in Pondicherry's main city area, about 2 km from Rock Beach and 1.2 km from main busstand. There is parking for up to three cars. We stayed with family for two days in Sep 2025 and had a pleasant visit. Rooms were neat, clean, and well maintained, and staff were calm, polite, and responsive. The lack of a lift could be difficult for elderly guests if their room is on the second floor. A good fit for couples or a short city stay. I'd recommend it for a quick Pondicherry getaway.

The rooms are clean, the ambience is good, and the staff are supportive. Hospitality was excellent, and the stay was pleasant. If it’s your first time in Pondy, they can guide you on renting a bike too.

The rooms were much too small, and the owner, or whoever was in charge, was very rude. I also suspect most of the reviews here are fake, so I wouldn't consider this hotel.
