La Maison Pondichéry

The one real hassle was climbing the stairs to the restaurant on the upper floors. Otherwise, the staff, management, location, and property were all very good. Tim manages the place so well that it’s hard to find fault, and the kitchen staff made delicious vegetarian food that felt like home. You can request room service, and staff may bring the food up. It’s close to the beach, Aurobindo Ashram, and other tourist spots. Even though it’s on a busy street, the stay was peaceful. Smoking and drinking aren’t allowed in the rooms.

We arrived early in the morning after taking a Sleeper bus from Bangalore. Check-in wasn’t until 2.00 PM, but the staff let us leave our luggage, freshen up, and gave us a room as soon as they could. They were accommodating at checkout too. That kind of understanding and attention to what guests need is great service. The rooms were clean and breakfast, with local cuisine, was amazing. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant. I’d 100% recommend it for a nice stay.

The only drawback is parking. There’s street parking for just two cars, or a dedicated lot about 1/2 km away from the hotel. Otherwise, the rooms are spacious and clean, the ambiance is very good, and breakfast is simple but tasty. The hotel is right in the middle of the city, within walking distance of the main attractions. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Pondi.

This well-kept heritage guest house was a peaceful place to stay, with very polite and accommodating staff and excellent service. Breakfast was included and really good. The beach is 500 meters away, and cafes and restaurants are an easy walk from the guest house. A great choice for a quiet coastal break with things nearby.
