Oyo 18450 Puduvai Inn Guest House

We could see that the rooms were empty, and the booking with payment was visible on the receptionist's tab, yet he refused to give us a room. He was extremely ill mannered and looked almost like a criminal. He argued with my 65-year-old father, a respected person, and acted defiant even though we said we'd report the issue to goibibo and oyo. He then watched a movie at full volume. An Oyo representative called and tried speaking to him while we were there, but the man simply disconnected the call. In the end, the situation got so bad that we had to cancel our trip and return to Chennai with heavy hearts. All kudos to this hotel. We'd booked a triple bed room the day before, and I was travelling with my elderly parents. I'd tried calling the hotel manager since early morning to let them know we'd check in late, but nobody answered. What made it worse was Oyo's response. I called nearly five times from the reception. Four times their call centre staff transferred me to a senior representative. Twice music played and the call dropped. On the third try, a senior representative answered and blamed me for being impatient. The last time, a senior female executive disconnected within minutes of me starting to explain. I've used the service before, but this time I'm completely dissatisfied. Thanks, Oyo, for ruining our holiday along with this cheap fraud hotel. I'll think twice before using the service again or recommending it to anyone. If you're educated and have even a minimum level of sobriety, never set foot in this hotel. Unless you're willing to pay for a service and still be insulted, or deal with an ill mannered, criminal looking hotel front office, don't choose it.

I ended up paying and staying because I was exhausted after a long bike ride, and that was one of my biggest mistakes. Don't stay here. The room and washroom in the pictures I attached were much too dirty to stay in. The place is in the middle of Pondicherry's vegetable market, so it's smelly and chaotic nearby. They also switch off the AC themselves at night. I'd booked through oyo in advance for two people at 900rs a night, but when I arrived they refused to check me in at the rate oyo had set. The staff were rude and basically told me to pay 1500 rs or leave the hotel. It felt totally pathetic, and having a booking didn't guarantee they'd give me the room. oyo was no help with the problem either. The hotel is totally fake and fraudulent. I'd suggest choosing somewhere else. It would be a much better choice. #Waste #Rudestaff #pathetic.

The online booking showed on their tab, but they still refused to give us the room and behaved terribly, just like other users described in Google reviews. I don't know why they keep online bookings open if they won't let people who booked online stay. The receptionist's behaviour was especially bad, and oyo customer care couldn't help us either. Worst experience ever. Anyone booking a hotel, never choose this one. If you want clear customer service, never book oyo.

The rooms are clean and well maintained, and it's a wonderful place to stay. The only drawback is that it's in a jammed location. Otherwise, good.
