Thamarai Resort Auroville

The pool was a highlight, clean and attractive with its violin shape. The service was tremendous, especially from Mr. Ganesh and Mr. Raj, who were available anytime and took care of everything without hesitation. I'd suggest keeping the room fixtures and utilities in better condition. My ratings: service 5.0, pool 5.0, room 4.0, food 4.0, location 4.0. A nice private place for bachelors to enjoy themselves. The swimming pool was the only good part for me. The rooms were bad, with no proper locks on either the bathroom or the room entrance. There was no TV access, the power kept cutting out, and customer service was poor. They delayed everything and wouldn't respond. It wasn't worth the money, and I wouldn't book a room here.

During the rain, water started coming through the dormitory ceiling. Management was very casual about it and said we could stay if we wanted or leave the resort, but they wouldn't give a full refund. We ended up leaving at midnight. Worst experience I've had.

The pool was really good, and the staff were friendly. The complimentary tiffin wasn't worth it, though, so don't expect much there. We paid 2k per head for 1N on the 31st for New Year, which was too expensive compared with other properties. The cottage had a ground floor and first floor, but the upper floor was made of plywood, so it felt like a waste. The idea was good, but maintenance was poor. There was a bad smell when we entered, and again I ran into lock problems. The toilets and bathroom had no locks. It really isn't suitable for bachelors.
