The French Villa

Alexander the manager was very cordial, and the other staff were nice. The area felt safe, stayed quiet at night, and made it easy to find good food or explore the streets on foot. This is an authentic heritage place with plenty of character and no frills. The simple rooms were clean and had what we needed, including hot water at any time, AC, and a fan. I’d recommend it to cultured travellers.

For 4k, this stay was a letdown and not worth the money. The place was dirty, the pillow and blanket weren’t clean, and even a basic mirror was missing. Rust on the door also showed how poorly things were maintained. Very disappointing.

After travelling, changing rooms several times was exhausting. There were lots of mosquitoes, and the rooms didn’t feel clean. The bed and bedding were poorly maintained, and the extra sheet we asked for felt like tablecloth material. Cleanliness and upkeep need significant improvement for guests to be comfortable.

We were told facilities would be included when booking, but they weren’t: the room had no Wi-Fi, towels, or toiletries. It was sandy throughout and very poorly cleaned, making the stay uncomfortable. Staff didn’t help or take responsibility when we raised the problems. The service felt careless and unprofessional, and we felt misled. The French Villa seemed fraudulent and not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking a clean, honest place to stay.
