Villa Cavi

Being able to walk to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram was a highlight for us, and Villa Cavi is also right in the French Town heritage district. It has two entrances, one opening onto the beach and promenade for sea views and morning walks, the other onto a charming street. The location made exploring Pondicherry easy. We travelled as a family with our infant son, looking for comfort, history, and convenience, and this heritage hotel met those needs. The staff were warm and professional, and attentive to us as a family. The owner gave us personal attention and shared insights about local culture and spiritual landmarks. We couldn’t make the trip to the nearby temples this time, but he gave us fascinating information and directions for Chidambaram, so we have an itinerary for our next visit. We were told by the owner that “The Mother” of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram once lived in this building before it became a hotel. You can still feel a sense of peace and history inside. We had a memorable stay and look forward to returning. It’s a refined, historically rich choice for families or solo travellers.

The rooms were excellent and the location was amazing, but breakfast was very mediocre and the service was really slow. We’ve had a better breakfast at other places in White Town, for example Richmond. At checkout we had to carry our own bags. Some help would have made a difference, since we were with three senior citizens and a toddler.

Mr. Murgan deserves special thanks for his attentive service. At the hotel restaurant, Akshit, Arvind, and Barani also took great care of us. The property was kept in excellent condition, and the support staff went out of their way to make the stay comfortable. We had a delightful visit, and it’s a good option for travellers who value quality and hospitality.

The food was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented, and service stayed excellent throughout. The cozy, classy setting comes with a beautiful view that made the evening memorable. Mr. Vasigaran welcomed us warmly and made drinks from his own recipes. They were original, refreshing, and really good. His creativity and enthusiasm make the place stand out. It’s not often you find such a mix of atmosphere, friendly service, and original drinks. I’d happily return and recommend it 💙
