Truliv Bougan Villa

The villa was extremely hot because the air cooler in the living area didn't work, two bedroom AC units were also out, and there was no AC in the living hall. It felt dark and creepy at night: there were no lights on the way in, and the villa's own lights were very dim. With lots of mosquitoes, staying there was uncomfortable. The place wasn't very clean and there were no shops or facilities nearby. It's far inside, almost in the middle of a jungle, with only a sand path and no proper road to the villa, making access difficult and unsafe. We wasted valuable time choosing this homestay. It was a disappointing stay and not worth the amount we paid.

The villa’s location is its one real advantage. The pool looked clean, but the chlorine made our eyes sting as soon as we got in. In March the living room was stifling, with no AC and no proper fans, and the bedrooms and living room are separate spaces rather than connected. Several door latches didn’t work, and a damaged balcony door left the room exposed to the open space, with insects and rodents getting in. For an old property, the upkeep just doesn’t justify the price, and the photos online look outdated. I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or come back unless these problems are fixed.

We had a good weekend here with family or friends. The pool was really nice, and the rooms were clean and tidy. There are plenty of restaurants about a five-minute drive away.

The host was responsive and helpful, and I really loved our time at Truliv Bougan Villa. It’s a roomy, green place with a well-kept pool, suited to group stays or retreats. We liked being near Auroville’s attractions and Pondicherry’s beaches, with restaurants close by. Set in Bommayapalayam near Matrimandir and Serenity Beach, its location gets a 9/10 from me. There’s a garden and lawn around the 2000 m² villa, with a private pool, free parking, free WiFi, air conditioning, daily housekeeping, and a fully equipped kitchen. It sleeps up to 12 comfortably. The three bedrooms each have a double bed, and there are three bathrooms with showers and complimentary toiletries. There’s also a dining area, a fan, and handmade decor. It’s designed for families, groups, and corporate retreats, with nature-inspired decor and modern amenities. It feels like a peaceful escape. A few things let it down: cleanliness could be better, there were occasional power cuts, and breakfast quality and service were inconsistent. For the price, I felt the amenities didn’t quite add up, so I’d give value 6/10 and think the pricing could be more competitive. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors weren’t confirmed, so guests are advised to bring portable ones. It’s a charming, tranquil option near Pondicherry, especially for groups of 8-10 people.
