Velvett Villa - Heritage Home

Velvet Villa Resort was very good. The room felt safe, the food was good, and the price was budget-friendly. It’s also near the beach and a bar. 👍

We stayed in January during a trip to pondicherry and booked two rooms. It was nice to sit in the upstairs hall and watch puducherry wake up after a peaceful night. The location made it easy to get to the beach and other local attractions, and the staff were helpful with tips on places to visit and eat. Our rooms were clean and well maintained. They arranged continental breakfast for us, and it was very tasty.

There are plenty of South Indian restaurants nearby for breakfast, and we managed to park right in front of the building, though parking could be an issue. We stayed one night in a spacious, clean room, directly opposite Egmore railway station.

The service was lovely, and there were some very kind young men working there. Still, my mother and I slept terribly. The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom lacked things, and the room felt too open for us to feel safe. It was hot, with lots of mosquitoes and loud noises. There were strange stains on the wall even though the floor was clean. The place smells of mould and feels dirty, probably because it’s old and not well kept. It has a beautiful old Indian building, if that’s your thing, but beyond that the atmosphere wasn’t very nice. It didn’t look the way I expected at all.
