Machaan Wilderness Lodge

The evening nature walk and nocturnal trail were memorable, with great insights into forest life. Staff were very nice and accommodating, and the green setting made our one-day stay lovely. We were focused on safaris and didn’t use the pool. The food was the real highlight. Our package included breakfast, and we ordered the other meals à la carte. Every dish was splendid. I’d stay another day just to eat there, the chef deserves a raise 🙌. The approach road to the property was uneven and a bit irritating. The road near the safari was similar, so that part wasn’t entirely the resort’s fault. We had a great time.

Our parents, uncle, and aunt enjoyed the hospitality so much that they already want to return next year :) This was our second family visit to Machaan, with all seven of us, and the stay was beautiful. The staff were polite and handled requests right away. Housekeeping kept the rooms neat and tidy. The property is a green paradise, and the food was exceptionally good. They also arranged the Karnataka government–operated Nagarahole Safaris for us, which made for a memorable experience.

We came away feeling completely immersed in the wild, with genuine kindness from the staff from arrival through checkout. The food was a delicious highlight, with an incredible range of flavors, so hats off to the chefs. The rooms were managed to keep things peaceful and tranquil. We enjoyed the quiet excitement of morning bird watching, calm evening walks through the coffee plantations, and even a movie night under the stars. Nature lovers looking for a soul-soothing escape will love this place.

I appreciated the hospitality, logistics, service, rooms, food, and how well the property was maintained. For the price, I got what I expected. But the second night left me disappointed. A corporate group was staying there and wanted to party, which is fair enough. Still, the reservation team had repeated many times during booking, and stated in the confirmation, that this wouldn’t be an issue. Instead, loud music played at the restaurant in the middle of a quiet night in a farm and forest area. It wiped away the brilliant feeling from the previous day and ruined the sense of staying close to a forest. There was also a fully operating bar counter serving guests. The bonfire, usually held at the restaurant, was reserved for the corporate group. My family was sent to the lowest part of the resort near the lake, exposed to the wilderness. The person assigned to stay with us stepped away for a while, leaving us on our own with a 3-year-old and a senior citizen. The management felt out of place. The difference in treatment between corporate and individual groups was clear, and we no longer felt valued. When I raised it with the onsite team, they told me to talk to reservations. At the same price, I’d recommend a large hotel chain over these smaller setups. Disappointed 👀
