Getting around Port Blair was easy, with buses and autos available almost around the clock, and the major attractions are accessible. The restaurant owner and serving staff were helpful, down-to-earth, and trustworthy. They also helped us arrange the best trips to Havelock and Neil island. The room was good for what we paid, and I felt we were in safe hands with the hotel management.

The rooftop restaurant has a beautiful view and a great menu. There’s mostly fresh seafood, and I tried fish momos for the first time here. They were delicious. The menu also has Indian, European, and Israeli food. The atmosphere, vibe, and amazing food are the best things about Hotel Lalaji, and can rival much pricier luxury hotels in central Port Blair. The owner and staff were friendly, helpful, and flexible. They booked my ferry tickets, spent a lot of time helping me find the right doctor in Port Blair, and gave me tips and directions for whatever I needed. Lalaji has a cozy, homey feel, and I’d recommend it to future guests 👍

The staff were good, and the price is among the best around PB town. It’s in a strategic spot in Port Blair town, but the furniture is old and some pieces are broken. You have to climb up high to switch on the AC, and the stairs aren’t comfortable because of the smoke.

The rooftop restaurant is a highlight, with good food and a few particularly nice choices. I’d give the potato fries 5/5, fried rice 4/5, and mushroom pizza 4/5. The pizzas are good compared with other places in Andaman, and it’s a good spot for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners. Service is basic but nice. It’s a little far into Abardeen Bazar, with Cellular Jail, the clock tower, bazaar, and marine park nearby. Wi-Fi and a few other amenities are available.

The one good thing was the rooftop restaurant. It looks cool, serves beer, and the food was good. The hotel is 4 KM from the airport and less than a km from Cellular Jail and marina. In 2022, an auto from the airport cost 150 rs. We paid around 900 bucks for one night, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The rooms are small and on the roadside, with balconies opening onto the road. A non-AC room has poor ventilation and gets very hot. There’s no bathroom exhaust, the taps run very slowly, the flush doesn’t work properly, there are no clothes hangers, and the shower has hardly any force. There’s a bar downstairs. I’d look for somewhere near Aberdeen bazar instead. You can find an AC room for around 1200-1500 bucks if you bargain, and there are lots of hotels there, so there’s no need to book online.
