Hotel Placid

Dinner was a dangerous experience for me. I had food poisoning the next morning, and the food was very bad, so don’t include it in your plan. The staff were arrogant and uncooperative, and the service and management were pathetic. At breakfast, I asked for one banana and they refused, even though we were ready to pay. Placid’s name is impressive, but the reality doesn’t match it.

Dinner was meant to start at 7.30, but we were left waiting until 8.00 while they dealt with other customers whose food was being prepared. The buffet selection was very limited, and all 6 of us were unhappy. When we arrived as a group from isle of wight, there was no welcome, and the rooms still weren’t ready at 2.30. The rooms weren’t up to standard and customer service was nonexistent. The wifi and TV didn’t work, and although we were told the technical issue would be fixed, it still hadn’t been sorted when we left.

If you love pets and travel with them, this hotel isn’t for you. I understand the hotel’s policies, but the manager behaved very badly and ridiculously. He lacked manners.

The food was only average, and restaurant staff weren’t service oriented. They wouldn’t serve even senior citizens unless asked, though big groups got a nice spread. The hotel was thoughtfully built, but its regular upkeep and cleanliness have been neglected. The whole staff needs serious training in service and housekeeping.
