Hotel Rutugandh Heritage

I was in Pune for a day and found the hotel comfortable and budget friendly. The staff were friendly too. For dinner I tried the Chicken crispy and chicken fried rice, both were delicious. A good option if you’re looking for an affordable hotel.

The location is very convenient, just a two-minute walk from Deccan metro station. I stayed at Hotel Rutugandh Heritage for three nights and had a great time. The staff were polite and cooperative, and room service was fast and convenient. The food was top-notch in taste, quality, and portion size, with reasonable prices, so you probably won’t need to order from outside. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pune.

We got a clean, spacious room with good air conditioning and 24-hour hot water. The room and washroom did have several patches where plaster was chipping away. This is an old budget hotel in the heart of the city, near Deccan Gymkhana Metro station and behind the PMT Bus depot. They let us check in about two hours early for free, which was much appreciated. There’s a lift and an in-house restaurant and bar. The same reasonably priced, tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian food can be brought to the room without an extra service charge, though delivery could be quicker and we sometimes had to remind them. Staff were courteous but need to improve their service. They should leave a jug of drinking water and two glasses in the room. Staff seemed unconcerned about whether guests had water, and unless we called reception or room service a couple of times, they wouldn’t send any. That was pathetic.

The metro is just 50 steps from the hotel, which made it very convenient to get around Pune. I paid Rs 2100/- plus taxes. The staff were helpful, and Mr. Devrukhkar was especially decent. When we found the room needed cleaning before my son’s college classes, he quickly changed all the bed sheets and covers and wiped away the dust. I had a bigger super deluxe room and my son stayed with me for his college work. The WiFi was enough for his online classes. The milk, tea, and coffee were very good, and the complimentary breakfast served its purpose as a morning meal, with options like upama and puri bhaji. The food felt homely. The location is excellent and it’s good value if you’re not looking for luxury. It also felt like a safe choice for women travelling alone for work or a solo vacation. The website pictures don’t match the actual hotel at all: it’s a small, nearly three-storey building in a little lane, not a huge resort. They should work on cleanliness, old furniture, and the rooms.
