Hotel Sargam

The food and service keep me coming back to this place inside Hotel Sargam hotel in yerwada, just before gunjan chowk. I’ve been visiting for at least 2.5 decades. The chicken maharaja is my current favourite, and the chicken Sholay kebab is great too. I used to love the butter chicken. Their chef's special, Chicken Lapeta kebab, was mind blowing: minced chicken with herbs in a white sauce, tucked into thick chicken sheets. The half portion of murg mussallam comes with biryani rice and was so generous that three of us couldn’t finish it. We had chicken sholay kebab to start, tender and juicy chicken tikkas wrapped in an omlette, with green chutney and salad. There were eight pieces, and it was filling. The chicken maharaja has a rich, aromatic cashewnut gravy and is mild or low spice. We love it with the well-cooked, crispy butter naan and wheat kulchas. The service is impeccable, and they’ll bring snacks or namkeen on request even if you’re not ordering alcohol. Mr. Vikas and Mr. Pandit have been especially hospitable to us over the past few years. The place is a good budget option for delicious, high-quality food and service. It’s become a hot spot for people to drink and smoke in recent years, so I’d recommend going during the day. There’s open rooftop seating, but for families or groups, the family section or an afternoon visit may suit better. Takeaway or dunzo are options if you don’t like the crowd. The food is yummy, and I highly recommend it for lunch.
