Chanakya BNR Hotel Puri

The location is handy, very close to Puri Railway Station, and the rooms are clean and decent. There's a pleasant heritage feel to the hotel. Food takes quite a while to arrive, and the buffet breakfast serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian items together, which may make vegetarian guests uncomfortable. There is no lift, so getting around could be difficult for senior citizens or people who aren't medically fit. Management should improve these points for guest comfort.

The food was one of the best we've had on our trips, and the staff provided excellent hospitality throughout. Chanakya BNR Hotel is a beautiful heritage property themed around Indian Railways, with spacious rooms named after railway stations. There’s a lovely pool and a peaceful atmosphere too. It’s conveniently close to the temple area and just a two-minute walk from the beach. A great place in Puri for a relaxed, memorable stay.

The team is kind and attentive, and the place feels clean and welcoming for people of any age. I’d happily come for lunch, brunch, or dinner. Dinner orders normally close at 11 PM, though they’ll often accommodate you if you’re just 5-10 minutes late and ask politely.

We had lunch at the restaurant, and all seven of us enjoyed the food. We ordered soup, fish kebabs, chicken malai kebab, crispy corn, jeera rice, naan, tandoori roti, rajbari chicken curry, chicken dopyaza, and veg dopyaza. The bill was around 6k. Plan ahead, though, since preparation takes about 20 minutes and it’s best to order starters and mains together. The hotel is a heritage property from IRCTC, with a royal look and sophisticated interiors. It’s well placed for getting around: Golden Beach is about 2 km away, Blue Flag Beach is along the way, and Niladri Beach is close enough to walk to for sunrise. There’s also a nice pool and a small gym.
