Our family had to scramble to manage basic things all night. The water tank ran dry around 1:00 at night, and the taps only worked again at 6:00 in the morning. We needed to reach Jagannath temple by 6:30, but ended up arriving more than an hour late after struggling to use the bathroom. When we asked for help, the lone staff member, who also cleaned toilets, cooked and attended to guests, suggested we bathe in the sea. The manager, who is also the owner, still pushed us to pay small extra charges for a mattress we'd waited hours to get. The night was miserable in other ways too. The voltage kept fluctuating, so the fan barely worked. There were mosquitoes everywhere, all the plug sockets in our room were fused, and we had to go down four floors just to charge our phones. Drinking water wasn't provided properly, and the extra mattress came only after a three-hour wait. We'd booked two rooms, and neither seemed to have been swept or mopped for months. They weren't even up to basic sanitation standards. The staff and manager were unprofessional, quarrelsome, dishonest and rude. This was the worst hotel stay of my life. Staying at Monalisa felt like a living hell and a complete waste of money. Please don't check in here, even if someone offers you a free room. I wish there were a rating below one star.
