Hotel Moti Mahal

The property is huge and has a good ambience, plus there’s plenty of parking. But it’s badly neglected. The food prices are reasonable, yet there’s hardly any choice and both quality and quantity were inconsistent. Cleanliness and hygiene were basically zero: the bedsheets and pillow covers were dirty, and even after staff cleaned the veranda, dust was still there. At first they told us not to open the door because monkeys might come in, then only agreed to clean after we asked a few times. Some staff were decent, others weren’t. They asked for money at checkout. Dinner arrived only partly, and although someone came to the room promising the rest, nothing else showed up. We couldn’t reach reception by phone. The bathroom exhaust fan seemed not to have worked for years. The service was horrible and management pathetic. Don’t trust the Google photos. It’s a large property, please maintain it.

We visited on 9 February. The grounds are extensive, but they’re not maintained, and there weren’t enough staff. Service was poor, with us having to ask for water, towels, and basic necessities. The staff were polite, but the owner seemed unconcerned. We booked after seeing the three-star rating, but I can’t recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. The rooms are spacious, and there’s a swimming pool, a small garden, and a terrific terrace view. Breakfast was quite good and tasted like home cooking.

The staff were the one good part, very kind and friendly. The room itself was awful: it was dusty and full of cobwebs, and I couldn’t stop sneezing. Nobody cleaned during our stay, so the rubbish sat there for three days. There was no hot water for a shower, and the noise was constant. We could hear everything, from pigeons outside to the kitchen downstairs. Nothing else about the room was good.
