Downton Hotel

We only wanted a decent, clean bed for one night, but the stay turned into a nightmare. Sheets, pillowcases, and blanket covers had oil, color, or blood stains and looked yellow instead of white. After several attempts, staff brought one decent white sheet. They blamed their laundry company, which raises the question: if management knows the vendor is bad, why hasn't it fixed this? It damages the brand's value. We tried three times, but staff couldn't find a clean blanket cover, so we slept without one and shivered through the night. The sheets were torn too, with some stains hidden under blankets. This wasn't worth the money or stress. Near the railway station, hotels have high turnover and may not care as much about decent service, so stay away.

The rooms were spacious and clean, though the linen could've been cleaner. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially the person at reception, who went out of their way for us. The location is prime and easy to reach by cab. Restaurant prices are on the high side, and there's an attached bar and spa. Great value for money overall, and I'd like to return.

The reception team were great and very efficient, and helped me whenever I needed it. Staff were very, very good. The place is well maintained, comfortable, and has a good ambience. Breakfast could have a bigger spread, just my personal opinion. I'd recommend it for a short business trip or a longer holiday. Thanks to the team for all the help.

The staff treated us horribly and acted thoroughly unprofessionally. When we asked for our complaint to be addressed, management was rude and sexist, and refused to listen to or speak with the women in our group. Please don't book or visit this hotel at night. They may take advantage of your situation, charge exorbitant prices, and treat you terribly.
