OYO 26612 Phoenix Inn

I had a very unpleasant stay. There wasn't an AC room available at first, so they put me in a cramped non-AC room for a few hours. In the AC room, the switch was controlled at reception, and they turned it off at night. Even set to 16°C, the cooling was weak and I felt hot and sweaty in the middle of the night. When the electricity went out in the morning, they left the AC off until I asked them to turn it on. The manager's behavior was unfair and made it seem like he thought he was letting me stay for free. The rooms are even more cramped than AC first-class train compartments. I suggest not staying here.

I arrived around noon and the receptionist confirmed that my booking was paid at the hotel. He then spoke to another man sitting on a sofa, who said he wouldn't give me the room at the booked rate. I was told to cancel and pay 800/- instead. I said the hotel should honor the price shown online and provide a suitable room, but he refused. When I said I'd complain to Oyo, he said he didn't care and nothing would happen. After I kept insisting, he took my phone and luggage and wouldn't let me leave. He demanded my phone PIN so he could cancel the booking himself, and spent nearly an hour abusing and bullying me. He made insulting remarks about my religion, location, height, weight, and skin color. I can't repeat all the words he used in the local language, but they were plainly abusive. I finally gave him my PIN because I had a scheduled meeting to get to, and he cancelled through my phone. Then he called a local OYO representative and told him what had happened, apparently so no action would be taken against him, or so the representative would handle it if there were any consequences. He had that conversation in front of me to show his power.

The room looked completely different from the photos, and was really poor. Staff were lazy and management was bad too. They take OYO bookings, but if they get walk-ins, they raise the room price when you check out. They’re liars. Worst experience ever. Don’t stay here.

The rooms are small, and water leaks from the AC. Service was poor too. The owner seems more interested in interfering in people's personal lives than looking after the hotel. Worst experience I've had, about 0.5/10.
