The reception is where you need to be careful about the price. I called ahead and clearly said there would be five of us. The person on the phone told me not to book online, to come directly, and said we’d get a better price. When we arrived, the rooms were ready, and they asked us to have dinner at a nearby restaurant while they prepared everything. After dinner, the receptionist changed the terms, saying the rooms were for four people and demanding ₹400 extra for one person. When we said we’d book online, he claimed it wasn’t available, even though the app showed it was. After some discussion, he agreed to the price he’d given us earlier. The rooms at Hotel The Rivera were clean, spacious, and comfortable, good value for money in terms of room quality and stay. Just double-check the reception pricing and confirm the booking details in writing or online.
Mr Prakash personally kept an eye on things, and both he and the staff were helpful and easy to deal with. I stayed here on 15 November 2025. It’s a budget hotel, but they tried to meet requests where they could, including arranging a room upgrade without an extra charge. The rooms are large, and the central location worked well for me.
Breakfast had plenty of tasty choices, and the location made it easy to get around to nearby attractions. I found the rooms clean, roomy, and nicely put together, with the comforts I needed. Staff were friendly and professional, always willing to help. It was one of my best hotel stays, and I’d happily come back or recommend it for the comfort and service.
We gave up after checking five rooms. They smelled foul, the furniture was broken, and the washrooms stank. Getting to the hotel was unpleasant too: the first two floors are small shops, then you pass a urine-smelling, creepy entrance and take a tiny lift to the third floor. The staff seemed used to guests objecting and laughed at us. The hotel refused a refund, and MakeMyTrip support didn’t help, so I lost my money. Stay away. Rajkot has better hotels. I think the ratings are fake, and I’ve uploaded photos.
The rooms are a decent size, but cleanliness was a problem for me. The linen didn’t look clean, and the old bathrooms felt sticky and poorly kept, with dated tiles and no exhaust fan. I also spotted spiders and webs in some corners. The way in was unpleasant and hard to find: shops fill the ground floor, the property is on the second floor, and the passage to the tiny lift smelled bad. It might suit someone focused strictly on a budget stay, but I wouldn’t choose it for a family. Cleanliness and the entrance need attention.
