The room was quiet, the bed comfortable, and there was secure garage parking, though I’m not sure how a car manages the narrow streets on the way in. We didn’t get one of the recently upgraded rooms. Ours was old, dim, and dirty, with a large crack in a bathroom tile that nearly cut my foot. Similar places have been fine for us at about 1200rps, so I’d have given this four stars at that price. We paid 2000, which felt like a foreigner’s rate. I hadn’t heard of that in three months travelling in India, and it made the stay poor value. For an Indian guest, I’d say the price would be reasonable.

Rats were wandering around, and the toilets were cramped and filthy. The basin’s wastewater drain was open and ran past the toilet area. Doors and windows were dirty too, and the receptionist was rude. The hotel is 0.5 km from the main road down a very narrow lane, which even a 16 seater tempo traveller can’t reach to the gate. Cheaper, much better hotels are available on the main road near the railway station.

After arriving, I found that even cars couldn’t get to this hotel. The staircase was broken, over half the place was being built, there was no pantry service, and the rooms smelled bad. The walls were damp, the windows didn’t fit properly, and mosquitoes were everywhere. I’d booked through MMT, where the rating was 3.9, but ended up paying 500 extra to upgrade, bringing the total to 1800, with 1300 through make my trip and 500 for the upgrade. The owner/host was rude and said all reservations were for the budget rooms (5 seater), which were tiny and in poor shape. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t bring your family here. Book after reaching Raxaul and seeing the rooms. Happy journey.

I’ve stayed at almost every hotel in Raxaul, and this one is the best I can say. The rooms and service are good, and it has the biggest parking area in town as well as a restaurant. Give it a try for a good stay.

I’m absolutely happy with my stay here. I’d tried other hotels on the main road and wasn’t satisfied, but this one was better. The rooms are good, neat, and clean, and it’s just a three minute walk from the station. The staff and manager were very good too.
