SPOT ON 75975 Gita Ashram

We paid Rs 2500 for a two-room set with a kitchen. The rooms were spacious but poorly maintained. My wife spotted a squirrel in the kitchen, so we didn't use it. The ashram covers a large area and has a temple. There were many langurs outside our room, though they didn't harm us. We also saw many sadhus lying by the roadside inside the ashram, which made it feel a little unsecured for a family. Part of what you pay goes toward educating economically weaker students, and there is a primary school inside the ashram.

We booked two rooms for four friends, one for the men and one for the women, but were turned away when we arrived. Beforehand, we called to confirm and were told the bookings were confirmed. They took an advance payment and never mentioned any restriction on unmarried couples, even though the place is described as couple friendly. At the property, they said they wouldn't give us rooms because we weren't married, despite us explaining that we were friends and had booked by gender. This was incredibly frustrating and regressive, especially in the 21st century. They took the advance without telling us about the restriction, then refused to provide the rooms and didn't refund the money. Please don't go here.

I first thought an ashram style place would be fine for a family, but the rooms were not clean and the bedding wasn't good. Guests are expected to bring their own locks, and there was no extra bedding even though we had booked it. My first impression was poor. It didn't seem cheap enough to justify this kind of situation.

Everything felt spacious, including the rooms, washrooms, and balcony, so it wasn't cramped like other low budget hotels. But the rooms were badly maintained. I booked after seeing the pictures, then realised they seemed to have been taken just for the online show 😂. The bedsheets looked like they hadn't been washed in years.
