Hotel Rourkela Palace

The food was superb, really delicious, and I loved it. I stayed nearly six days. The owner was generous and kind, and the staff were humble and helpful. The rooms were decent and spacious, and the bathroom was clean and worked without any problems.

Some of the staff were genuinely gentle, but I’d still tell people to avoid this place. I’d paid for two days and booked a deluxe room, yet they made me take a super deluxe room and pay extra. Since my train was at 23:15, I told them I’d check out at 9 pm. They began knocking and asking me to leave before 8 pm because they were getting ready for walk-in customers.

I came to Rourkela for a wedding and found the location one of the best things about the hotel, right in a prime area. It’s affordable, hygienic, and quiet, and the receptionist was humble. When I had an early morning train, the watchman opened the gate, which I appreciated. There are quite a few missing or faulty amenities: no geyser, some lights were missing, the AC didn’t work, and other amenities weren’t available either. If you’re okay with fewer amenities for an affordable price, it could suit you.

I cancelled after trying to sort out my OYO booking. The manager kept rejecting my calls, so I called OYO customer care, and their salesperson confirmed the hotel was still affiliated and told me to book again. When I arrived for an early check-in, the manager was either asleep or away, and staff demanded double the online price for the same room. After an OYO booking, the hotel had also denied any connection with OYO and asked for twice what I’d paid. The management system is disgusting.
