The river views from Hotel Mandakini are amazing, and it’s right on the main road. They also have dorm rooms for drivers. We were upgraded to a Superior room at no charge, and they provided a room heater for the January cold. Hot running water was easy to get. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious, and the staff were warm, polite, and responsive.

The receptionist and manager were very helpful, and there was adequate parking. We liked the home cooked food and the balcony view of the Alaknanda river. A nice family stay and good value overall.

There’s a particular vibe here that kept bringing me back. I stayed for at least 60 days between 2013 - 2016 and also arranged for small training groups to stay. The owner and staff were extremely polite and honest about what they could and couldn’t do, and did their best to make the stay comfortable. I’ve given 4 stars across.

We paid around 4500₹ for the tariff, which included breakfast and dinner. The location worked perfectly, right on the main road at the beginning of the city, and parking just outside the hotel was convenient. The place was nice and well maintained, the staff friendly, and the tariff seemed okay.

I’m checking out of Hotel Mandakini in about an hour, and wanted to recognize the owners, front desk, and team. After a long ride on bumpy roads, the staff brought our bags up quickly and turned on the lights and AC. Thanks to the young men who carried our luggage. The room is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully arranged, with a kettle, toiletries, TV channels, and fixtures placed for easy use. Great job, Hotel Mandakini. It lives up to the innkeeper’s motto of comfort and kindness for tired travelers.
