The kitchen experience was just as poor, with a very rude kitchen manager. Prices were like those at expensive restaurants in Police Bazar, but the food was among the worst I've tasted, maybe in all of Shillong. For now I wouldn't recommend this inn, especially with a dozen other places nearby offering the same or lower prices and much better service. We had booked rooms in advance with specific requirements, but didn't get the right setup. A family room for three was supposed to have a double bed and a single bed, yet ours had only two single beds. Some basic things were missing or short, including towels, soap and mats. In some rooms, bathroom items like the jet spray were broken or absent. The inn was clearly short staffed, and the staff seemed inexperienced and confused. Even for a one-night stay, it was a bad experience. They need to sort out the basics, make things easier for guests, and train staff to improve the service.
We stayed in October 2024. The complimentary breakfast had very little choice, and the manager at reception couldn't communicate in any language. Despite asking several times, our bedsheet was never changed during the stay, and the room was never cleaned.
The food was good, and everything felt hygienic and well maintained. Staff were polite. The rooms were small but fine for a couple, though the blankets were too thin for the cold.
❌Worst place to stay in Shillong. This is more like a cubicle, with an ultra-small bed. A couple and two kids under 10 can't all sleep on it together. The passage between rooms is so narrow that two people can't walk side by side. My room was dirty, with a stained bedsheet and hair all over the blanket, pillow and sheet. There were no towels even after I asked again and again. They didn't change the sheet after I requested it, and only vacuumed the area four hours later. Room cleaning is never done here. Guests had an altercation with the manager over getting things the hotel had promised. The nearest food joint has no taste, so please don't buy food there.
The food was awful throughout our stay. Breakfast was the same bland Aloo Chana Poori every morning, with watery boiled chickpeas, and the parathas they promised never appeared. We paid 5.5k a night for three nights over Christmas, and the whole trip was spoiled by this run-down place. OYO budget options cost much less and still provide better basics. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Warm water was the one thing the hotel had going for it, but there was no water supply for about 3-4 hours every morning, so we couldn't enjoy it. We were often stuck in the washroom for nearly an hour each day. On our last day, there wasn't any drinking water at all. The reception staff and management showed no initiative or accountability for the many problems.
