The hotel is small and cozy, close to a lively market with plenty of veg and non-veg food options. Inside, the classy interiors, heritage feel, and old vintage furniture made me love the look of the place. The staff were warm and polite, and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel restaurant is nice as well. Breakfast choices were limited, but what they offered was really good. Truly recommended!

I came across the Habitat on Google Maps while looking for a stay in Laitumukhra, and ended up having an amazing time. The rooms are awesome, the interiors are well designed, and the staff are well behaved. It isn't the place for you if you want a good view and a smoking space, but it's a calm, peaceful, serene place to stay. I'd definitely pick it again on my next visit to Shillong.
The receptionists were so polite, and they let us check in early without any hassle. The Habitat is tucked a little inside Laitumkrah, just a two-minute walk away, with good food joints, cafes, and taxis nearby. The place is beautiful and doesn't feel like a traditional hotel, more like a mix of a homestay and a hotel. There isn't regular room service for meals, so you need to let them know hours ahead if you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We ate outside, so that wasn't a problem for us. A highly recommended stay.
The beds are saggy, and the room is so cramped with furniture that there’s barely space to breathe. We have two suitcases, and I can’t open them and move around. The fan switch is behind an almarih by the door, nowhere near the bed and hard to reach. There's no charging point by the bed either. The shower gives scalding water for only three minutes, making it impossible to shower. I'm extremely disappointed. We've only been here three hours, and I'm dreading what the rest of our two-night stay will be like. For what I paid, this isn't worth it. My mother is very uncomfortable, and I'll hear about this for the next ten vacations.
The property's natural, earthy feel and the old-school style of the rooms really won us over. It's a stunning place for a quiet stay amid Shillong's bustling areas, and our visit was very pleasant.
