Goroomgo City Inn Shimla

It’s a small hotel near HP university Shimla. A good place to sleep at night, then head out during the day for sightseeing or official work.

The homemade food was a real highlight, tasty and healthy, and the host cooks it himself. The hosts are polite, check-in and checkout were easy, and the rooms and service felt fair for the price. It’s close to Himachal Pradesh University, in a peaceful, pleasant area with shops for basic needs and a teachers colony behind the property. I found it very student friendly.

The owner is very humble, and the food is very good. The room was neat and clean, and although there aren’t many staff, they manage things well. It feels more like a homestay than a three-star property, so I wouldn’t recommend it if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s far from the tourist areas and Mall Road, which keeps it peaceful, but a taxi there costs 300 bucks each ride. Summer Hill station is closer for catching the toy train. The location felt unique, away from the crowds and within the university campus, though Mall road is 6 km away. We stayed in a standard room, which was pocket-friendly, and both the room and toilet were very clean. The staff were great, especially the owners, Mr Narendra and his wife. I was worried about whether my Shimla station ticket would work from the next stop, so Mr Narendra took me to the station master and spoke for me. What a helpful person, and his energy is exemplary. Summer Hill station is just a 2 minute walk away, making it easy to catch the toy train. We had a wonderful stay.
