We only booked this room for a three-hour stop to freshen up, which I was glad about. It was dingy, smelled like damp, rotten fabric, and had water seeping through the walls. There’s no lift, so my parents had to climb four floors up and down. A really bad experience.
The rooms and location are fine, but the service really spoiled the stay. Staff were rude, and whenever they saw us they asked for one charge or another. They also didn’t communicate properly among themselves, which led to unnecessary complaints. The reception staff were especially unfriendly, and we didn’t feel any hospitality from them.
Our prepaid booking was cancelled by the owner, leaving us without anywhere to stay and out of pocket. I wouldn’t trust the five-star rating from Atul Sood, who is the owner himself. Don’t fall for it.
Getting to Ivy Resort in Lal Pani was difficult for us. It’s 5 to 6 km from Mall Road, not 1 km, and buses aren’t easy to find when visiting Shimla. The resort is low in the mountains, so the trip there and back can be a hassle. The owner spoke abusively to the customer, and the service was very bad. I’d suggest staying at a hotel on Mall Road instead. Don’t book Forgotten Room at Ivy Resort.
