Avenue Plaza

The food was good, and housekeeping were polite and very helpful. Wi-Fi in some rooms is the one thing that could be improved.

After check-in, with our usual luggage, we were suddenly told that outside food wasn't allowed. They also said they wouldn't provide cutlery under any circumstances, even though we hadn't asked for any. The worst part was dealing with the night staff. When I asked for a bottle of water, someone sighed loudly over the intercom, like I was an inconvenience. When the bottle arrived, they said there was no staff available to bring anything else to our room, so we'd have to collect any further items ourselves. The attitude came across as rude, arrogant, and dismissive, with none of the basic customer service you'd expect. One of my worst service experiences at a hotel.

We tried the café at Samrat restaurant, which is one of Serampore's oldest restaurants. I went twice with friends, and we had soup, white sauce pasta, pizza, fish and chicken starters, and a sizzler. The food was good, and it's a relaxed place to spend some time without a fuss. Service was average, but it could work as a casual meeting spot for an ordinary day.

Convenient location and clean rooms. Pandey ji was helpful, and it was a good stay.
