Hotel GRG Residency

The person in charge wouldn’t lower the price, even after we saw several rooms locked from the outside and the owner didn’t offer to show us any others. Our room was very old and smelled foul. I wonder whether anyone had stayed there in the past year. The washroom was worse, with no wash basin, and so cramped I could barely stand without my head touching the roof. Don’t waste your hard-earned money on this place.

Our experience was from May 2022, between May 18- May 25. We booked this as a budget hotel, but the staff’s service and behavior were below even that standard. They treated us like refugees. The manager was always negative about our trip, Kashmir, and even the owner. There was no respect, consideration, help, or support, and the staff and owners were extremely rude and arrogant. Staff kept lying, and the hotel made too many false promises. They were unprofessional and had no work ethics. There’s no kitchen, so we couldn’t get even water or food during an emergency. They wouldn’t provide normal drinking water in the room. For a stay of several days, they didn’t change blankets or towels even when asked. Tea packets were given only on check-in day, and after that we had to beg the so-called manager for tea bags. We believe the 5/5 Google reviews were written by staff and owners, many of whom you’ll see working at the hotel. Our rating is 0/5, but Google requires at least 1. We think the hotel may not run for long because of the unprofessional behavior of staff and owners. We don’t recommend it for families, older people, ladies’ groups, single women, luxury travelers, or budget travelers. Beware, beware, beware!

We had five rooms, and they were extremely clean and fully carpeted. The bathrooms, towels, and bed sheets were clean, and every room’s geyser worked properly. It’s not far from the main road. Very good overall for the price.

They said they’d do things and then didn’t, and when we brought it up, they blamed us. The staff were arrogant, with no cooperation or flexibility. We asked for an early breakfast just for one day and they refused, then advised us not to visit Sonamarg while staying in Srinagar. Water was hard to get too, whether bottles or a jug, unless we spent hours asking. Room cleaning wasn’t done. When we requested fresh sheets, we later found they’d only turned the same ones over. I’ve never seen such sly, irresponsible service anywhere in Srinagar.
