Fayaz has four generations of hosting experience, and he's also a shikara owner and rider. The rooms are a good size and have heaters, while the dining hall has Kashmiri-style decor. We found the stay good value, with the essential services and lovely home-cooked food. Staying at Houseboat Ambassador on Dal Lake was a wholesome experience, and I'd be glad to meet Fayaz again on a future visit.

Dal Lake is a special place, with so many different birds. I loved sitting on the deck with tea and watching them. The owners took care of everything during my Kashmir holiday, and I'm very grateful to them. I spent a few weeks on the boat and loved it. It has traditional decor, feels luxurious and comfortable, and my room was spacious and clean. The bed linen, in traditionally printed cotton, was changed regularly. Dinner was super tasty, and I was glad I didn't have to think about shopping for food or cooking. I could just relax and enjoy the local life.

The boat has a nice look, and the heater was set just right. The service and food were good, and Fayaz bhai, the boat rider, was polite and nice.
