Kashmir Hill Town

The location makes this an affordable option, with Dal Lake just a walk away. There's a big dining area connected to a kitchen where guests can cook, and it seems suitable for tour groups of 30 or more. It's a budget hotel for middle-class Indian travelers, so don't expect five-star treatment. The staff were friendly and helpful when asked for things like water bottles, a bin, an extra pillow, or a blanket. The building is one of Srinagar's oldest hotels, with woodwork in the lobby, colorful ceiling panels along the first and second floor passages, and old furniture that reflects the city. I had a nice experience and think budget travelers could consider staying here.

The rooms were dirty and smelled of smoke. The toilets weren't clean, and the flush didn't work. Staff were arrogant and uncooperative. I'd tell anyone looking at this hotel not to book it, even if it were free.

The management provided good customer service, and the food was good, which is why I gave two stars. But I don't understand the hotel's three-star rating. The rooms are old, especially the bathrooms, and need updating to meet 2022 standards. They're charging prices like a three-star hotel.

The rooms smelled really bad and were very dirty. We booked four rooms, and none of the toilet doors had locks. I don't think the bedspreads or pillow covers had been changed for over a week. I wouldn't stay here even for free.
