The Resident Hotel

This is a budget hotel with the basic amenities, on the outskirts of the city and close to army cantonment. The service from all the staff was superb. Mr. Kifayyat was a perfect host, always polite and respectful, and made sure our needs were met. He arranged our trips to Pahalgam and Gulmarg, which made the stay worry free and memorable. We’d definitely recommend the hotel to visitors to Srinagar. A trip to Srinagar / Kashmir shouldn’t be missed, it really is portrayed as a paradise on earth.

Getting to Srinagar meant going through severe police frisking. We’d booked 3 rooms before curfew, and with the complete city closed and nobody working, we really appreciated the hotel staff and people accepting our booking and letting us stay. The rooms were perfect for a distinctive holiday, and Chef - Faisal knew how to cook for different tastebuds. O Bilal, the care taker, entertained is with cricket and TV. We learned more about their views and ideas on Kashmiri lifestyles and their agitation. The landlord is one of the epic, though sadly you won’t be able to meet him and get his regards. A polite and humble person.

The manager and staff were really polite and cooperative, and they did their best to look after us. We had some trouble getting hot water and using the lift because electricity in Kashmir isn't reliable. I liked the hotel, and would recommend it for a night or two.

There’s a market nearby, which makes it easy to do some shopping. The hotel is on the outskirts of Srinagar and offers budget accommodation for travelers from across India. It’s well maintained, has helpful staff, and the restaurant serves good food.
