Hotel Hinduja Empire

There was no in-house restaurant to order food, and the room was extremely small. The water supply failed several times, which made things even more frustrating. The service was poor and didn’t meet basic expectations. A very disappointing stay.

We had a confirmed, fully prepaid booking through Agoda at Hotel Hinduja Empire, Surat for 11-12 October 2025, but when my wife and I arrived, the staff said there were no rooms and refused to check us in. Our voucher clearly said “Guaranteed Room.” No one from the hotel or Agoda had called, messaged, or warned us the booking wouldn’t be honored. After hours of pleading and calling customer care, it became clear the hotel had oversold rooms and left us to deal with it. We spent over four hours searching elsewhere, but nearby places were sold out and prices had jumped 10-20× because of local events. Late at night, with nowhere else to go, we had to sleep at Surat Railway Station. Accepting prepaid bookings and then refusing accommodation without offering alternatives is unacceptable and unsafe, a complete failure of ethics and responsibility. Future travelers should double check before booking here. A confirmed booking means nothing if the hotel won’t honor it.

The service was good and the place was quite neat, with Uber and Ola easy to get. The rooms were too small for two people. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was good, including breakfast.

The room was extremely small, and the washroom hadn’t been cleaned. There was hair on the mattress, too. They didn’t provide a kettle or the Wi-Fi password, and there were no dental or shaving kits. The free Medimix soap was tiny, like the ones given out at government hospitals. At least drinking and washroom water were available, and the lights, fan, and AC worked. Still felt like a waste of money.
