Hotel Merit

The other staff were really nice, and the rooms were pleasant and clean. But I wouldn’t recommend staying here because of the receptionist with the beard. He was very rude. On checkout day, he insisted we owed extra because the room rent was supposedly higher, even though he’d quoted us 4,000 for two rooms on our first morning. We’d also seen him quote a lower price to three women and a man looking for two rooms. He kept pushing us into rickshaws to visit shops, first after we’d refused and then again the next day. He asked whether we’d bought anything and why not if we hadn’t. In Surat, people keep pestering you to enter shops and buy things, and they get 10% commission on the sales. They’re all robbers. Cheap people will always act cheap.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was spacious and comfortable. The amenities were top-notch too. One of the best hotel stays I’ve had, and I’d gladly come back.

The restaurant’s food was fresh and flavorful, especially the local dishes, and the location made it easy to get around and see nearby attractions. My room was clean, spacious, neatly arranged, and had the basics I needed. Staff were polite, helpful, and quick to handle requests. I had a pleasant, comfortable stay at Hotel Merit.

The room was filthy, the sheets hadn’t been changed, and there was such a strong moldy smell it was hard to breathe. The AC and fan didn’t work properly, and the hotel refused to fix them. They also raised the price after confirming the booking and threatened to cancel if we didn’t pay. Staff were rude and unprofessional, and management didn’t care about complaints. Hygiene, service, and ethics were extremely poor. A complete disappointment and not worth the money. I’d advise against Hotel Merit in Surat. PLEASE AVOID HOTEL MERIT. WHITEROSE BESIDE THIS HOTEL IS VERY GOOD, WITH GOOD BEHAVIOUR AND HELPFUL STAFFS PRESENT THERE.
