The Amore Surat

On a trip from Mumbai to Surat for a wedding, my husband and I, both 40, arrived with two large suitcases. At check-in I handed over our ID, and Mr Imran Mansoori noticed that my surname differed from my husband's. He asked whether we were married, why our names were different, then questioned me quite aggressively and refused to check us in without a marriage certificate. I eventually showed him a digital copy. This embarrassing exchange happened in front of several guests. A family with a child had checked in before us and weren't asked anything like this. Later, I came back from the wedding before my husband, who had the room key. When I asked night manager Mr Bobby Paswan for another, he asked when my husband would return with it. I found that strange and asked him to issue a key. He then said an extra one would cost Rs 500. At check-in, we'd asked Mr Imran for two keys, but he only told us that one key card worked at a time. He never mentioned a Rs 500 charge for a second card. In more than 20 years of travelling around the world, I've never dealt with staff this rude and uncultured. The management needs to train staff better and fire these two for their rudeness and lack of etiquette. They should also revise these ridiculous policies to match other domestic hotel standards. Please don't stay here and spoil your holiday. This was a horrible hotel, negative rating.

The location is convenient, close to the wholesale market and not too far from the airport, and the rooms are spacious and good. The hotel seems to have tried to make things great, but some things are missing. Staff need better training, service needs work, and it was noisy even at midnight. Still, it's a good hotel overall.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Amore, Surat. The location was good, and the staff were courteous and polite. The breakfast selection was good, but it was almost cold, so we asked for hot food. It took them a while to bring it. Please serve breakfast hot, since not everyone enjoys cold food. It can be improved, and it wouldn't stop us from coming back. We'd love to stay again.

Rajesh and his banquet team did very good work, keep it up. The staff were supportive, the food tasted good, and we had a good experience.
