Ocean Tree Beach Resort & Spa

The island itself has plenty of lovely places and activities, but Ocean Tree Resort & Spa, Havelock made the trip disappointing. I stayed there from 6-8 May 2026 after booking through Goibibo, and found the place poorly managed. Check-in started with rude, dismissive reception staff, and the property looked unfinished. The menu was just loose printed pages stapled together, and there were no dustbins outside the rooms. Pool hygiene was a serious concern. The water didn’t seem to circulate properly, and two dogs wandered around and drank straight from the pool. When we told staff, they only shooed them away for a few seconds. There was no washroom or cleaning area by the pool for guests to rinse off either. The WiFi was extremely unreliable throughout our stay, even for basic browsing. Breakfast tables didn’t have salt or pepper, and flies were all over the bananas with no one covering them. These small details added to the impression that management paid little attention to guests. The room looked decent at first, but the single mattress was tiny and uncomfortable. The resort also seemed badly understaffed, and even basic room service felt unpleasant because staff were rude and uninterested. The checkout arrangement was absurd: check-in was at 12:30 PM, while checkout was 8:30 AM, leaving a four-hour gap for room cleaning. I’ve stayed at places like Silver Sand in Havelock where the turnaround between checkout and check-in was only 2-3 hours and much better managed. Here it felt like the management wanted resort revenue without putting in the effort to run one properly. For a property charging resort prices, this level of WiFi and maintenance is unacceptable in 2026. I wouldn’t recommend it unless hygiene, staffing, maintenance, WiFi, and basic hospitality improve drastically.

Sameer and the front desk were helpful, and the location is excellent with big, spacious rooms. Our 1.9-year-old daughter loved the beach and pool while we were travelling. The food needs work, though. They didn’t follow our instructions for her baby food, so it fell short of what we expected.

Anjana and Sameer deserve special thanks for arranging an early check-in. They were professional and supportive, and made the visit more enjoyable. Everyone we dealt with was courteous, approachable, and helpful, and we felt comfortable throughout. The restaurant staff were attentive and the food was good. They also provided baby food on demand, which was a real relief for us as parents. We had a very pleasant stay and highly recommend it.

Shajida, the manager, handled our concerns helpfully and professionally, and the restaurant team, especially Suraj, Sudeep, and Swati, were attentive. The property is beautiful and close to the beach. We’d booked a premium suite but were moved to a lower category room. It was spacious and comfortable, though. Our room booking included dinner, but with limited bookings it wasn’t served as a buffet. Staff made customized food, but that part needs improvement. There were a few issues, yet we had a good experience overall.
