Holy River Hotel

We were six people and stayed for 7 nights. The hotel was excellent and worth every penny, and I’d definitely come back when I next visit Rishikesh. The restaurant Holy Oven serves excellent food, though I didn’t enjoy the flat pancakes. Divine Cafe is a two-minute walk away and its food really is divine. There’s also a Spa on the fourth floor; masseur Akash did a great job and was a blessing for limbs tired from all the walking. Our rooms felt luxurious, at a 4-star level, with bright, tasteful decor and spotless rooms and premises. Housekeeping deserves full marks. The beds and pillows were very soft, maybe too soft for my preference for firmer ones. The bathroom was clean with an excellent shower, and clean towels and necessary toiletries were provided. Staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is close to the main road, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Laxman Jhula is a 10-12 minute walk, while Ram Jhula and Sivandanda Ashram are 15-20 minutes away on foot. If you’re taking a full rickshaw to Ram Jhula, hire one outside Divine Cafe (GMap it) for ₹300. The ones on the Main Road charge ₹400-500. One issue: in winter the air vent works as a heater by default and overheats the room even at 16°C. It seemed impossible to change the setting, so we kept it off to maintain a comfortable temperature. The reception desk is up several steps on the first floor, but guests who are elderly or have knee problems can use the elevator via the ground-floor restaurant Holy Oven.

The hotel is in a prime spot, with plenty of great cafés just a short walk away. We stayed 2 nights at holy river and had a wonderful time. Breakfast had lots of variety, and the staff were prompt and polite. Highly recommend!

A simple, no-fuss hotel with everything you need, right at the start of Tapovan. I stayed 2 nights and booked a deluxe room, but was upgraded to a superior. The two room types are similar, with only a slight difference in the view, which was part mountain and part city. Staff were very polite, room service was quick and there was plenty of parking. Laxman Jhula and Beatles Cafe are within walking distance. I’d absolutely recommend it if you want a peaceful Rishikesh trip without worrying about traffic, parking, food, shops, connectivity, cleanliness or anything from basic needs to luxury.

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times and will keep coming back. The rooms are beautiful, the food is great and the staff are very accommodating. It’s also very close to Tapovan. Try the spa, where Akash gives an excellent Ayurvedic massage!
