Hotel Akash Continental

The service was excellent, and it felt safe, so I think it's a good option for solo travelers and couples. We enjoyed our stay, though peak season made the price quite high. Cleanliness needs work: the rooms and mattress weren't clean to the standard we expected for what we paid. Also, alcohol shouldn't have been allowed in the common area. Some boys made a nuisance at the New Year party, and the atmosphere felt super cheap for one of the best hostels in town.

The only proper common area is on the top floor, and it closes at 12 AM. After that there's nowhere for guests to sit, talk, or chill. The manager's view is that everyone should go to sleep, and if people are still sitting and talking past midnight, staff abruptly switch off all the lights and leave. He screams at guests, taunts them, and argues with them. He acts more like a school or college warden than a manager of a travellers' hostel. Most of the staff are extremely rude and mannerless too, apart from a few. This isn't really a hostel, but a hotel with some dorms, and they let families and guests with babies check in. Go here if you want to feel like a student getting yelled at by a strict principal. There's absolutely nothing good about the place. It looks nothing like the pictures, and the property is terrible. If the owner is reading this, please hire people who know how to talk to and behave with guests in hospitality, and use some common sense when setting the rules.

The dormitory was cramped and poorly ventilated, with a suffocating feel that made it hard to breathe. Poor maintenance added to the discomfort. It seemed like the dorm hadn't been cleaned in weeks: blankets and cushions were visibly stained, dirty, and smelled awful. I couldn't feel comfortable there. Extremely disappointing, not worth the money or the discomfort, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, and the hostel felt like good value for budget travelers, with amenities beyond what I expected. The facilities were well maintained and clean. Staff were incredibly friendly, always ready to help and offer recommendations. Highly recommended for a pleasant, affordable stay.
