Hotel Bhagirathi

The balcony view was beautiful, and breakfast was included and quite tasty. We stayed last month, March 2024, and found the service good and the hotel quite good overall. There are different room types. We booked one with a balcony view, so I can't really comment on the others. Tehri lake is about 5 - 6 km away.

For a night or two with friends, this place is okay, but I wouldn't choose it for a family stay. There are only three rooms in what seems to be a restaurant converted into a small hotel. Two rooms have mountain-view balconies. The rooms are newly built and a decent size, with no AC. Bathrooms are small but clean, and there was a geyser. Parking and free wifi are available. They don't have a restaurant, though food can be brought to the room and the quality is satisfactory. The reception has just two people, one of whom also handles room service. There's no intercom, so you have to go to reception for everything. It works for a short stay, but the experience doesn't feel very professional. I stayed one night with friends in Sep 2023. It was just an okay place.

The owner refused to give me the room I'd booked when I arrived after travelling almost 500 kms, saying the hotel no longer had a contract with OYO. I was forced to cancel the booking, though I didn't, and later got a refund. They then offered me the same room for double the price I'd booked it at. The hotel and rooms are good, the location is good, and the staff, though new, are good too. Still, this was a terrible experience.

The location is great, parking is available, the food is good, and the reception and housekeeping staff are friendly. The rooms need more care, though. Some facilities are there but aren't maintained, including the bathroom, where the flush doesn't work. The blankets, quilts, and pillows were poor and untidy.
