Kamay The Grand Alova

The balcony had a good view of the river, but the rest of our stay was awful. The hotel feels worn out, and the photos must be from years ago. There was damp damage to the wall plaster, hardly any hot water, and a strong petrol smell on the lower floors. The bathroom fan in the window let wind blow through into the bedroom, and the door wouldn't shut, so it banged all night. At the restaurant, most things on the menu weren't available, and we had to take whatever they brought us. They also only accept cash, no Mastercard or Visa. I had doubted other people's warnings about this hotel, but they were right.

We had a serene mountain view from our room, and the food was tasty and hygienic. The rooms were comfortable, and the service was excellent and very polite. The whole staff was courteous, and Mr. Anup Kumar made sure guests weren't inconvenienced.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes. When I raised it, staff sprayed a powerful chemical freshener instead of properly addressing it, and the air became even more uncomfortable. The room itself was in poor shape, with heavy damp, peeling paint, mold and signs of water seeping in, all pointing to long-running maintenance problems. I didn't get proper support or a professional response. This was a serious hygiene and upkeep failure in my experience. Be careful about relying on the five-star ratings before booking.

We had a great time here as a family. Mr Maninder was nice, and the hotel was clean, with good food and a market nearby. It was an exceptional stay.
